Content is becoming a bigger priority to marketers these days...and I think one of the reasons for this resurgence in the written word is due in large part to cost constraints. PR materials and social media content can be powerful -- and cheap. With the economy putting a strain on everyone's budgets, this is an attractive one-two punch. Even those companies who are getting back on their feet, so to speak, are learning from past mistakes and taking a harder look at their marketing spending. Good content that is intriguing can build a brand quickly, effectively, and inexpensively. What could be better?

Gradually social media tools have gain much popularity as compared to any other tool. I guess it’s the least expensive way B2B companies can use to limit their budgets. No need of extraordinary filing and staff what you need is just a computer with a broadband connection. Apparently, in 2010 its going to be much bigger than it is now. Social media tools will be a major part of a company’s strategy.

Susan,
Thanks for your comment. I believe that analyst groups and research groups like those you mentioned are still important and credible. The main difference now is that they are not the only source of credible information. They have a lot of competition. When buyers (even technology buyers) are looking for names they trust, unbiased third parties are good, but their peers are better.

Hi,
The information you have share with us is very nice and informative. I think blogging grab the attraction of people and face book, twitter and other social media are working on blogging and get the desire result. I don't think so that blogging is dead, it is a false statement and the purpose behind it to confuse people.

Chris,
This is very interesting insight. Many of my clients are tech companies. Do you think that buyers are still relying on what analyst groups such as Forrester, The Gartner Group, and The Aberdeen Group have to say? Don't other industries have their respected analysts as well? In fact, from your comments about other sources being less credible, I would think that these groups might have even more influence. Just a thought.

I tend to agree that most of the writers just try to borrow interest but I think they should make sure to grab people’s attention for an extended span. It’s something engaging your readers in a give and take relationship. There is nothing more striking than news which can stand on its own. As far as Blogging concerns there’s no alternative in the current scenario. Twitter and other social media tools are there but what they say “Old is Gold”.

Jargons sound not too interesting to me. Many of us are not conversant with them. Personally I think that making text simple and comprehensive is more valuable than using slangs or truncated words. It may haunt your customers and ultimately you will lose your value in their eyes.

You\'re right, getting users to generate ads is probably not the best idea. However, that does not mean social media is not relevant to business. Social media is a tool and tools need to be used for their purpose. The problem is that there are so many social media sites out there it can be hard to know how to use them.

Sites like Twitter and Facebook should be used to see what people are saying about your brand. If someone has a bad experience with your product of service they are going to let the world know, usually via facebook and twitter. When that happens you want to be there to respond, resolving the issue. Not only that, but thank people who are saying good things! Everyone loves recognition.
