Make Your Website Copy Benefit Oriented
February 25th, 2008 posted by Dan WhiteAccording to a recent article in “Interactive Marketing” not enough care is given to the copy contained on websites. Too much effort is made on talking too much about the company and the features of the products, and not enough time is taken to really explain how your product or service can benefit the customer’s needs and wants.
People don’t have much time, so make your copy attention-getting, short and benefit oriented. What’s in it for them? Develop copy that would want the customer to take action and buy from you.
Here are some tips covered in the article:
· Follow headlines with “stimulating” introductions
· Use subheads
· Use bulleted phrases
· Keep your sentences short
· Saturate your copy with benefits
· Layoff the jargon
· Use testimonials
· Use a guarantee- if applicable
· Ask for the order
· Use graphics to enhance the sales experience
